Americans Speak To Arabs In New TV Ad

FaithfulAmerica, an interfaith religious group, is sponsoring a new ad condemning human rights abuses in Iraq, and pledging commitment among Americans to the pursuit of justice.

In similar news, Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) has proposed an amendment to a new Defense Department bill (S 2400), which repudiates torture and re-affirms our commitment to international human rights.

Ask your senators to support the Durbin amendment to the Defense bill.

Oh Ryan!!! I know that wasn't supposed to be funny. But that first guy trying to say hello (or I think it literally translates to God be with you) in arabic just had me rolling on the floor with laughter. I know I shouldn't laugh at people making efforts to connect, but it was just so incredibly bad.

At least this commercial should provide some laughter for the Iraqis. On the other hand, I have a friend who spent some time in Iraq at the beginning of the year, and he says that part of the reason that the iraqis are so frustrated is that they keep having their electricity turned off, so they might not even see the commercials if they air them during a power outage.

Maybe it was one of those "you had to be there" funny things. :)

Foreign language is one of my pet hobbies, so these things amuse me.

I'm not sure that a religious response ad is the right way to go... it almost sets the stage for another crusade type war. I think rather then an interfaith response it should be an entire nation response. Maybe Moveon should be working on getting an ad out.
Then again, it could be taken as our gods apologize to your god...
It always becomes a little more confusing when you throw religion in to the mix.
I wonder what other ads they're running on arabic tv stations? I know there are a few for the change over that try to put a positive outlook on the new Iraq. I know there's one with a mother humming a song to her baby, and I hear that it's being recieved ok.
