So which is more obscene? Cheney delivering the oil or the idea of George Bush in the buff?

I wish that I could paint.

This painting references Manet's Olympia, at the time it was created a very controvercial painting of a prostitute. This painting is considered one of the most important paintings of its era-- one of the first works of art that commented on art itself (referencing classical paintings of a woman in the same pose...) and therefore kicking off all self-referential modern art movements after it. The painting has since been parodied in many ways-- its a tradition. I love this addition to the legacy

"While Olympia's pose had classic precedents, the subject of the painting represented a prostitute. In the painting, the maid offers the courtesan a bouquet of flowers, presumably a gift from a client, not the sort of scene previously depicted in the art of the era."
